The sunny Greece is not really developed in the world of games: it has little success in Counterstrike, Warcraft3. And it’s the same story when it comes to Call of Duty 2. In CoD1, Greece had a team called #non.cod with players such as BriZolaS and BaTMaN. These guys continued playing in Call of Duty 2, they even teamed up with the Dutch player dramzie but that didn’t last very long. Greece counts about 16 average Call of Duty 2 teams and about 3-4 of them are pretty decent. The offline scene in Greece is decent and it’s still improving: last year there were 3 LANs organized for CoD2. Online there’s pretty much nothing except some one-night cups. That’s why some of the Greek teams search for competition in international Cups & Leagues like ClanBase.

Could you tell me a bit about the history of your team?
Our team is mainly a Greek lineup and apart from just an online clan we are friends in real life after we started playing Cod1, from the release of the game. We have been competing for all these years in the ClanBase ladders, having many matches in our ClanBase team history and decent ranks over the years
How competitive is the cod2 community in Greece? Any Online competitions or LANs?
We are a newborn community which started with the help of Oldschool Greek players, creating
www.callofduty.gr and helping the community by organizing One-night cups. Lately the activity is good and I think we are moving forward to a more competitive community. The proof is the 3 LANS that have been organized here in Greece in the year 06-07 , with some decent prizes for the winners.
How big is the cod2 community in Greece? Are there any other clans besides you?
The Greek community counts over 16 teams , but the are like 3-4 Greek powerhouses at this time, hope this will change in the future.
Is it easy for you to get support from Organizations from your country?
Greece is a weird country, in competitive gaming we are like a 3rd world country. I would like to see comments like souvlaki and tzatziki in the tek9 comments , but still big steps have to be made. I think the PRO series of the ESL, held here in Greece is a good thing and we are all working to include cod2 in the PRO series for the next years, hope Activision wont mess it up and release and bad coded Xbox cod3 release in the future and take us 3 years back
Do you think you have equal chances as countries like the UK , Finland etc.. to practice and become better?
I don’t think we can even compare the Greek scene with big communities like those countries. Even seeing the group A of ESL cod2 was a shock, compared to the teams we are going to face. Practice is not an option and I think we can get lucky and play some good matches, but even playing on this level is very good and we hope we get wiser or owned^^ after this season.
